The overarching purpose of the BwD SCP is to help and safeguard children with care and support needs and lead children's safeguarding arrangements through effective partnership working.
The role of the Partnership is to ensure that children and young people in Blackburn with Darwen who may be at risk of abuse or neglect are supported to keep themselves safe and are protected where necessary by agencies which have that responsibility.
The Partnership also needs to be confident that action is taken by the responsible agencies to investigate cases of alleged abuse and to provide support to children and young people if they have been subject to abuse in any way and to learn and improve from the reviews of serious incidents where children have died or suffered significant harm.
